Handslate: Digital Sign Language Interpreter
A downloadable tool
Wouldn't it be nice if ASL speakers had an easier way of communicating with others via video calls? We set out to create a way for these people to have their signs translated into written text.
Handslate is a virtual sign language interpreter that takes input from your webcam and translates it in real time. It can even translate from zoom feeds!
This project was made for the HenHacks hackathon and won first place in the Machine Learning hack catagory. It uses the OpenCV computer vision package, Tensorflow, and SciKit-Learn. Here's a demo video!
Check out the github page to try handslate for yourself, and check out the devpost page to learn more about the HenHacks hackathon.
